Dr. Medrano Bio
I was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. Since my early teens I was inspired to become a surgeon as my uncles who were themselves surgeons invited me to watch them operate.
I graduated from medical school top of my class at Tec de Monterrey in 2014. This allowed me to be able to do a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Tx.
Afterwards, I was 1 in over 200 foreign medical graduates who was able to get a general surgery residency spot in the year 2016.
I did my 5-year general surgery residency training in New York city at Lincoln Medical Center, which has on the busiest emergency centers in the country. This experience allowed me to become a skillful and proficient general surgeon.
After completing my surgery residency, I went to Abington-Jefferson Health Hospital in Abington, PA,
just outside of Philadelphia where I completed my 1-year bariatric fellowship. Here I learned to perform the duodenal switch and how to use the surgical robot.
Finally, I came back to Texas where I currently practice and hope to stay for many years to come.
