Dr. Medrano’s journey in medicine began at a young age, inspired by his surgeon uncles. He graduated from Tec de Monterrey in 2014 and earned a two-year fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX.
In 2016, he was the ONLY foreign medical graduate—out of more than 200 applicants—to secure a general surgery residency in the United States.
After his residency, Dr. Medrano completed a bariatric surgery fellowship at Abington-Jefferson Health Hospital in Pennsylvania. There, he learned advanced weight loss procedures, including the duodenal switch, and trained in robotic-assisted surgery.
Now practicing in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Medrano is a trusted robotic surgery expert specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
